Regional Charity Leaders Forum aims to facilitate open discussions among CEOs, Directors and Senior Managers specifically running regional organisations. This platform will provide an avenue for us to come together, share our experiences, discuss upcoming events, address common issues, and collaboratively explore effective solutions.

The first session of the forum will take place on 9th November at the CO3 offices from 13.00- 14.15. A light lunch will be provided.

The theme will be The Power of Peer Support.

The power of peer support for charities with a national head office cannot be underestimated.

Peer support refers to the assistance and encouragement provided by individuals who share similar experiences, challenges, or goals. In the context of charities with a national head office, peer support can bring about numerous benefits that contribute to the organisation's success and impact.

These sessions will be Chaired by Peter Bryson, Head of Save the Children in Northern Ireland and Gillian McAtackney, Senior Partnerships Manager at GamCare.

We will be addressing 2 specific questions at this event:

What is the position of regional charities in the national context?

What is the position of national charities in Northern Ireland now, and 5 years from now?

The overarching aims of this forum are detailed below.

  1. Shared Learning and Best Practices; Collaboration enables different branches or regions of the charity to share their successes, challenges, and best practices. This cross-pollination of ideas and knowledge helps each branch learn from one another's experiences, avoid common issues, and adopt effective strategies.

  2. Motivation and Inspiration;. Peer support provides tangible examples of what is possible, fostering a healthy competitive spirit and a sense of pride in contributing to the overall mission.

  3. Problem Solving; Challenges are inevitable in any organisation. This forum will create a platform for leaders to collectively brainstorm solutions to common problems. Someone may have encountered and resolved a similar issue and can offer insights that others might not have considered.

  4. Building a Strong Network; This network can be a valuable source of advice, encouragement, and collaboration. Strong relationships built through peer support can extend beyond the virtual realm, leading to partnerships and joint initiatives.
